- Set aside time each day to listen to and talk with your child.
- Follow up at home on areas of interest.
- Go over his/her school papers together.
- Have a quiet place for homework with supplies such as paper, pencils, scissors, glue, crayons, etc.
- Prepare for the day ahead by having him/her pack folders in the bookbag and pick out clothes the night before.
- Keep a checklist and/or calendar of important dates and projects.
- Have reasonable expectations and help him/her set "do-able" goals.
- Limit TV viewing and computer games.
- Plan family activities that are educational and fun.
- Give your child responsibility.
- Develop a close working relationship with your child's teacher.
- Read, read, read together!!!!
